NEXUS Application Form and Program for Children
All children under 18 need parents’ approval in order to apply for the program. The procedure for applying is the same as applying for as an adult. However, if the information provided in the application is wrong or if the child has a criminal record, the application will be denied.
NEXUS application forms for children IF they are accompanied by an authorized adult using the services.
All children must attend to an interview and to be accompanied by their parents or an authorized adult. There the adult has to provide documents that proof the right to take the child/children to the interview and out of the country.
If parents share the custody of their children, it is recommended for them to carry copies of legal documents. It is preferable to have a legal letter stated that the other parent has rights for taking the child/children out of the country. This letter is an official document confirming that the child is not taken against his/her will or abducted. Parents’ full name, address, and phone are mandatory information that has to be included into the authorized letter.
There are no processing fees for applicants under 18.
To enrol in the NEXUS program, minors require a signed letter of consent from at least one parent or legal guardian.
If only one parent or legal guardian is present at the interview:
- The absent parent or legal guardian must sign a letter of consent agreeing to the minor’s enrolment in the program.
- In cases of de facto sole custody or if only one parent is recorded on the minor’s birth certificate, the parent or legal guardian does not require a consent letter.
- In cases of joint custody, the parent or guardian must provide evidence indicating the custody agreement.
- The parent or guardian must provide evidence that there are no non-removal clauses and that the minor can leave Canada.
If the minor attends the interview with a person other than the parent or legal guardian, both parents or legal guardians must submit letter(s) of consent in addition to the other requirements.
Minors can be enrolled in the NEXUS program even if their parents or legal guardians are not members.
